This is a very excellent, artsy-looking image, but those look like cicada EXOSKELETONS to me. How can you get intimate with a couple of hollow shells?

Looks like a photo that is taken in the ealry seventies. It somehow sparkles the imagination; is this some kind of CIA spy, calling his office to give an update on the one he is observing? (and stuff like that)

Nice work, like it how the lighting and colors work out here.

Comment by zeuszen:
This, catagorically, multi-faceted photo is so credibly set-up, it could pass as a candid. The (for a portrait or self-portrait) somewhat unflattering lighting falling diagonally through the shot lends considerable drama and realism to what could have made for a sweeter and (artistically) weaker image without this. The soft focus compensates aptly in this respect.

Most striking, to me, is the strong integrity of this shot, supported by a convincing arrangement and an apparent authenticity of choices. The facial expression and 'cast' of the subject alone communicate the full gamut of human emotion, far beyond the defined topic.

The image is 'transporting' to the extreme, and, IMO, a model fit for study. > 9

I really don't care for the background in this photo, what is that the locus is sitting on?

Comment by vonautsch:
It's a good attempt, but the overal picture is too dark to really give a feel of intimacy. The coloring gives a feel of death.
