November Dreamsby jbsmithanaComment by moodville: I'm guessing the hazy feel to the image is due to a soft focus effect. The color has a strong blue cast but that goes with the chilly feel of November. The tree makes a good frame but unfortunately it's only framing an expanse of water. The seagull adds a much needed third element and is positioned good on the branch, although I'm not too sure about the composition of the entire image. Perhaps cropping out the lower part of the tree would put more emphasis on the bird and not so much on the water. |

Bad Moon Risingby jbsmithanaComment by leaf: this has a very barren interesting look... like we are on the moon.. perhaps a bit oversharprened.. the whites are sorts of screaming... nice shot though. |

Bad Moon Risingby jbsmithanaComment by redmoon: I wonder if black and white was the best choice for such a shot. i keep imagine a white moon against a blue sky, and i think the solid, single shade of grey sky kind of diminishes the imapct of the moons presence. the fore and middle ground consisting of rocks is quite featureless, although i'm intrigued by the outcropping on the right (getting closer to that feature would i think have added interest). 3. |

Bad Moon Risingby jbsmithanaComment by Philos: Nice b/w conversion. The only problem I see is that your subject (the moon) is not very clear, would have liked it with a more clear moon in it. Still nice. |

Bad Moon Risingby jbsmithanaComment by moodville: There seems to be a little too much rock in the image. Cropping it at the points at which it connects to the sides of the image so that the diagonal line goes from bottom corner to top corner would make it more dynamic and reduce the amount of rock. The moon doesnt really stand out more than just a white blob - it is hard to expose both foreground and moon in what appears to be very harsh lighting conditions. There also appears to be some compression artifacts and the image looks oversharpened. |
