Awaiting Adoptionby BradComment by hannafate: What's awaiting adoption? Who? These look like barbeque grills. The combination of image and title is a little creepy. |

Many scars, many goals.by BradComment by mffnqueen: i would have liked to see the darker areas of the ball be black, as opposed to silver.. not sure if that's the ball or your lighting, but something to think about |

City Hall Courtyardby BradComment by cpanaioti: *** Critique Club ***
The soft lighting here sets a nice mood. Also, the blend of colours gives a deserted feel to your image.
Brighter areas tend to draw more attention than darker ones and I think here the light green is competing with the pillars in the foreground. The pillars draw my attention since they are very prominent in the foreground, however the main lit areas keep drawing my attention away. Bringing out more detail in the foreground pillars might alleviate this.
Compositionally, I don't think the palm tree and the light behind add much. Cropping the image just to the left of the pillars next to the palm would balance the image better. Also, a slightly different angle, to make the front entrance more visible might also help with the balance of the image.
Keep shooting.

The Miramar Metroplexby BradComment by DonC: Very nice perpsective, too bad those lights are there which there is nothing you can do about, but it would have been perfect if not for thier distraction |

A 3 Day Supplyby BradComment by banmorn: Exceptional image, idea and execution. Vitamin E? What and imaginative eye you have. The repitition of the light in the shadows is awesome. I also like that you have to really look at it to get it as at first glance (read in the thumbnail) it looks like three well lit, odd shaped pitchers of some sort. Great work. |

A 3 Day Supplyby BradComment by HRoxas: nice shot. I like the translucent capsules and the big shadows. The textured background adds interest. |

Aerodynamically Slipperyby BradComment by Brad: Hi Amanda,
Me? Worry about the nay-sayers on a shot like this? It was done in pure fun, and put a smile on my face while shooting it. A grown man, making a car out of 100% banana - HA!
One member thought the wheels were chocolate, so that would have been on the other end of the spectrum from "icky" I guess.
Thanks for the feedback, and I hope I put a smile on your face when you saw the shot. If so, the shot was a success!
Regards,

Aerodynamically Slipperyby BradComment by Jesuispeure: Greetings from the Critique Club!
Ah the silliness! I thought it was a cute idea- reminds me of one of those Richard Scary childrens books. I think the monkey has a car just like this! The main thing that turned me off about this picture was the color of the wheels and roll bar. I didn't realize that you had used a different kind of banana- to me it just looked like they had gone bad under the studio lights, and thus were kind of icky.
I know there is always some debate about the kind of pictures that we take on DPC- are they fine art, are they commerical, are they allowed to be utterly silly? I think that there is a place for all of these kinds of pictures, and I wouldn't worry about the nay-sayers.
Good luck in the future,
Amanda |
