The underexposure of the structure loses its impact as a rusted main subject, I am drawn to the building in the back.

I dont see this as an abstact but a nice portrait very nicely done maybe the light on the right side of the face could be softened.

As a portrait I would say that the subject is well posed and the background is nicely faded out, but that it is a little too flat because of the flash. But, it's kind of a stretch for abstract.
