Excellent focus, but the lighting it so harsh that it is hard to look at and it is very unflattering to the model. With softer lighting her best features would have been enhanced.

The light is way too harsh, using a soft daylight coming through a window would have made all the difference here..

this picture could be much improved with different lighting. perhaps something more natural like a morning light, something that brightens the eyes and doesn't mess with the skin tone

Very harsh light. If you don't know how to use flash (I certainly don't!), try taking your portraits in available light.
