Fresh Water Mellon Fishby s2fraserComment by Skip: nice idea. it's probably your camera that takes away from the shot (too much flash and not enough focus). all the same, great effort. this is probably something that photoshop could rescue well enough to put it on a wall. also, maybe back off just a bit to have a little more border to the right. |

Rusted, but not archaicby s2fraserComment by s2fraser: Thanks for the comments everyone! What I liked about it was that the bridge was solid and clean, even though it was rust-covered. As Dusty mentioned, that was (probably; I didn't notice a company name on it) the intent of the designers. The idea for the the DOF and adjustments to the view angle are spot on; I really, really appreciate these suggestions to help make me a better photographer.
Thanks again
Stuart

Rusted, but not archaicby s2fraserComment by banmorn: scrolling down to comment isee that you might have chosen an angle just inside the right side of the bridge and shot at that angle. you would have still gotten the green on the left which is a nice color contrast and have had more emphasis on the lines of the bridtge and thus, the rust and lost the uninteresting area to the riight in this image. Nice find, focus, exposure. |

Rusted, but not archaicby s2fraserComment by cghubbell: There's a lot of interest in this shot, but I feel like the dramatic lines of the bridge are lost in the background. With a more open aperture that slightly blurred the background I think the subject would be more highlighted. If it were possible to get a lower and more to the right point of view, the sweeping curves of the bridge side might be more emphasized as well. I like the desing elements overall - you've got an eye for a good image! |
