Get Lost in a Good Bookby L1Comment by CEJ: I really like this crop. It puts him right in the scene and keeps him the focus. His expression, pose, apparent mood are perfect for the scene and the composition from this crop seems stronger than the others. This has a lot of emotive force not present in the others. You can feel his presence in the scene and image one similar for yourself to be in. Very strong in my opinion. Very nice photo Laurie! Well done! Message edited by author 2006-05-15 17:19:00. |

Get Lost in a Good Bookby L1Comment by Louis: A nice portrait, composed well. The only distraction for me are the leaves at right, partially blocking his face. Nicely taken though; the book seems to be acting as a reflector, adding a subtle glow to his face. Very serene scene. |

Desperation: Poverty's Childby L1Comment by Kavey: Oh what a charming portrait... I can imagine this image used to advertise a gritty film such as Angela's Ashes or the like - a film based on a story of a hard life. I like the pose and composition - with the negative space. The image overall feels a bit soft to me and the brightness of the sleeve area draws my focus away from his face. I am not keen on the distracting branches/ wires either. But overall I think the mood comes through well. |
