Self-Portrait of NGEby ngefComment by cghubbell: The background trim piece's intersection with the subject's head is distracting. I'm also not comfortable with the way the camera is cut off, and a partial finger is showing. I think a different perspective and some cropping would go a long way. |

Self-Portrait of NGEby ngefComment by wkoffel: pretty good for a mirror shot, but not really inreresting or remarkable in any way. I like the toning of the black & white, crop is somewhat boring. |

Everglades Sunsetby ngefComment by ahaze: Very pretty, nice careful composition. I might have saturated it just a bit more to add a bit of pop. Bumping up one. |

Snow Dogsby ngefComment by Tranquil: Greetings from the Critique Club!
My first impressions as a dog-lover are "What a BEAUTIFUl dog!" It seems your dog Bear is quite a star :) As a subject, his eyes are stunning and are the first thing that the viewer is attracted to. As far as subject matters go, this ones a beau!
Technically there are certain parts of this photograph that are a little bit unappealing. There is basically nothing "wrong" so to say with its technicality, but it seems flat to me. The DOF is great and that helps the shot out a lot. However, I think that you could have had more contrast in this shot as the lighting is just too diffure for my taste. Compositionally, I think that the top ear is cut off and for nit-picks this can be a little bit irritating.
This is still a pleasing and heart-warming shot.
Thank you for sharing!

Everglades Sunsetby ngefComment by Skip: ok, fine! i like your image, but i'm having a hard time factoring out the jealousy quotient! whenever i try something like this, my birds become dots! this is great work! the range of colors and the motion of the birds really bring this moment to life. i really hope this gets the attention it deserves, and that it doesn't get lost in the shuffle. as i have nothing further to offer, i'm just going to sit back and enjoy it for a moment, if you don't mind. good luck in the challenge! |

Everglades Sunsetby ngefComment by notonline: A faster speed would have captured the birds a little more still. A nice shot but with the blurry birds I find it to distracting. Good job and keep up the good work in 2005. |
