Pear Trees in Bloomby CyrildaComment by sidpixel: Hello from the critique club
An appealing image that makes a contribution to the challenge.
Well Susie, you̢۪ve certainly got soft focus and high key to meet the challenge brief but its not quite working. They elements have no cohesiveness there is no focal point against a backdrop of uninteresting bland white sky, I̢۪m sorry but it just fails to hit the spot. I do like the curve in the road, though I̢۪d probably have cropped the left corner out. I think perhaps a panoramic with much less sky and a slower shutter speed with correct focus but softness created through motion blur from a slower shutter speed may have worked better. Sorry Susie, better luck next time. |

All I need is a good book, a soft blanket, chocolates and sun.by CyrildaComment by giantmike: Firstly, I can see what you are going for here, and you have something really good to build on. But I would like to offer some constructive input to help take this photo from mundane to more exciting.
1. The lighting here is very flat, and underexposed. Looks like it's just normal overhead lighting with no direction to it. This makes it so the background is just as prominent as the subject.
2. The three objects are competing for attention. I feel like the hat has the most visual interest, so I would focus more on that, while allowing the other objects to become supporting elements. I would do this by changing my position so I was lower to the ground. Then I would use a shallower depth of field to make sure the bow is in focus, and the rest goes out of focus.
3. Finally, I would choose to position the objects differently. In this photo, they all lean to the left, which makes it feel like the right side of the image is heavy. Either the book or the chocolate box tilted the other way would help balance the image visually.
I truly hope this helps you! |

She's My Mommy, No! She's My Mommy!by CyrildaComment by Cyrilda: For all of you who appreciated my shot, THANK YOU SO MUCH. When trying to get a shot of these two puppers when they're playing I truly have to grab my camera and get shots as quickly as possible. I'm still learning and sometimes I forget I can do quick shots without using auto. Thank you so much. Hugs |

Love on a Cloudy Dayby CyrildaComment by Cyrilda: Actually I sharpened this photo only once and it was just a general sharpen. I touched up the yellow in one spot on the yellow part. This flower looks like glass anyway. This was a challenge where everything goes but it's judged like a minimal photo. OH! WELL! |
