Fans, Vendors, and Lightsby TranquilComment by moodville: The vendor with his nicely bright shirt breaks up the repeated pattern of the crowd. The curve of the seating is good too. The lights are a little distracting and gives the image an almost misty red cast over the left side. It's a good shot but doesnt hold much wow with me. |

Enterby TranquilComment by MrAkamai: Very interesting perspective and I like it as a b/w, however it looks overexposed on the right side and oversharpened. |

Libertyby TranquilComment by L1: Definitely unusual, for me anyway. I think it probably would have done OK. Better than my dismal showing, that's for sure! :o) |

Attentionby TranquilComment by nicoledb: * Greetings from the Critique Club *
Technically, I think this is a very good photograph. The lighting is perfect to bring out all the detail in and around the eye while keeping the hair on the right side dark. Focus is excellent, all the details in and around the eye are very sharp. Composition is good, although it tends to look a bit unbalanced with the large light part on the left and the dark part on the right. Tighter cropping would have improved that.
On the emotional level, I don't find this a really very attractive photograph. The main reason for that is there's too much detail of the skin and freckles visible. Gives me a feeling of 'up real close and too personal'. I keep looking at this because it's technically good and all the details make it interesting, and I keep wanting to look away because I don't like to look at somebody else's skin from that close. Could be a personal thing, though.
Hope this is helpful. |
