Just Beyond City Limitsby TranquilComment by graphicfunk: Can an image transport the viewer? I am sure some do and this one is quite the example. here we are transported into a wonderland with colors so vivid and look at that silky body of water. This is indeed a transporter and one to ho into my favorites. Good job. Message edited by author 2004-12-25 21:58:05. |

Let There Be Lifeby TranquilComment by brianlh: great find. i would've liked to have seen this possibly with a greater DOF (to span the entire scene) if possible, since the focus here seems to bring our attention to the plant.. which, i just realized might work well if (judging by your title) the Life of the plant is what these rays are bringing/offering - in this case, it works well the way it is. If, however, the plant was more to offer a foreground interest, a great DOF would probably be called for. |

This Just In! Summer's Here...Relax...by TranquilComment by brianlh: i really like your choice to have the focus begin in the hammock, rather than the ropes leading into it. this helps us look straight into the inviting hammock, and then the ropes leading out bring us into the beautiful and serene surroundings that we can enjoy while we lay there. if you're on a stock photo site, you may want to try uploading this one. |

And Fallsby TranquilComment by brianlh: true, some darkening of the rocks in the lower right might benefit here (although I wonder if that's possible, as it looks like some of them are completely blown out). i like the choice here to freeze the water, rather than applying a long exposure. not only because it prevents the model from becoming blurred, but it also depicts an 'exact' moment in time. if you had motion blurred it, it would convey a very different message.. motion blurring water is over-rated! |

§outhby TranquilComment by brianlh: i love the interplay of the shadows, which you obviously also appreciated considering the title. they all pair in a wonderful manner with the real letter. i perhaps wonder how it might look if you cropped more tightly around the words, since the rest only seems to detract from [what I consider] the main subject. |

Across the Lakeby TranquilComment by Resusit8u: The evening colors and contrasting darkness of the surrounding woodlands add to the moodiness and beauty of this scene. The red on the building draws the viewer into this photograph, and the bridge moves the eye across the entire image. What an alluring location, it also evokes a sense of solitude to me. Beautifully done. |

Walk this Wayby TranquilComment by dpdave: I still say if the ducks are walking ON the ice, it's way too cold.
Things I like about this photo...Good composition, excellent texture in the ice, and I really like the "quit stalking me" look the duck has.
Points to improve...The only thing I can think of would have been to catch a drake(male duck) because of the greater range of color. |

Across the Lakeby TranquilComment by dpdave: I think a crop up from the bottom to the debris line in the water, and in from the left to the metal pole sticking up wpould help give this shot more of an "unmodern" feel.
Other than that, I really like this one. It has a good perspective from low down, near the waters surface, and a very wintery, desolate appeal. |
