Night Trainby kevrobertsonComment by blindjustice: This shot is so great on so many levels. First you have that awesome texture to the train going by and the platform. Its very "logan's run" sci-fi, but the you have the element of the woman with the umbrella. Thats just a ffantastic compositional element, simple and perfect. an umbrella at nigh and it isn't even raining, so far as we can tell.
one of the problems with people giving reviews at times is that they lose sight of the forest for the trees... they comment that your shot is crooked or grainy or a bit too light or dark. THose are the things that make your shot special in most cases, and the comment applies only if the shot is used as a print or in a magazine or formally. Only one shot will look like this one and for a reason.
Oh yeah, and another thing, I know that in life you can't pick your nicknames, but if I could, mine would be "Night train."

Forged for strengthby kevrobertsonComment by beckettboots: I thought your shot was technically excellent and I gave you a 7.
I thought the depth of field was well executed and the composition was solid.
However, like the other commenter, it lacked a sort of emotional oomph that I think it would need to put it over the top witih the voters. I'm not sure how to say that would be accomplished with this subject - perhaps more of a demonstration of the forged strength of the objects featured or comparing them to plastic or some other inferior material. |

aliveby kevrobertsonComment by dahkota: Was a zoom type blur used on this? Seems to vibrate a little which is typical of that technique. There are leading lines but the bluring lessens their importance. I like the image except for the blur - its very interesting. Love the conversion to B&W. |
