Check Mate!by jmleliiComment by Glen King: Are the lines you're using the lines of squares on the board or a line of pieces in a row? If the board squares, back off and get several leading up to the king. If a row of pieces, elevate your camera above the board where that line is more obvious. P.S. Your board has a water ring on it. :-> |

Check Mate!by jmleliiComment by obstetrify: YOu give just a hint of the chessboard in this picture. Others might have shown more of it. The chessmen are interesting and with their vertical parallels contrast well. |

ESPNby jmleliiComment by jpochard: Lighting on this does not help the photo, I think. The subject is too dark and the sky is too bright. A different time of day maybe would help? I prefer to see magazine cover shots in a portrait layout.
Subject and composition appear very "snap shot" with little interest. |

ESPNby jmleliiComment by pcody: The hoop is just a tad too dark, otherwise a good exposure and I like how the wind is moving the net. A lower pov might have been used to get rid of the trees altogether. I don't read sports mags, but this picture might have been more exciting with people in the frame. |

ESPNby jmleliiComment by Zoomdak: Trees are distracting. Exposer seems wierd, maybe the back board could have been brightened a little more. I like the action though. |

Check Mate!by jmleliiComment by garlic: The lightning seem pretty good but I´ve seen similar things performed better. Think you would have got a better result if youve had the chesmen more widespred, that more distance between them, and maybe fewer. Also I would have liked another angel, seeing more of the chesboard and the lines it performes. |

Check Mate!by jmleliiComment by Mark: HEY! I have one of those chess sets! Seriously, besides the board, I don't see parallell lines, amd thae faint lattuce fence in the background is very distracting. |
