I like the colors and the subject is nice. It suffers a bit from lack of focus.

good choice - i was trying very hard to find something that might reflect light in an interesting manner... however, to achieve a great score, blurriness and a soft focus is a bit of a disadvantage. was this taken with the camera in your hands? if so, may i recommend putting the camera down, maybe on a pile of books or cds (or get a mini 6 inch tri-pod for like 20 bucks / 10 quid) and using the timer built in the camera. no shake, and perfect focus will be yours. the brightness could also be toned down a bit - try playing with the brightness and contrast on whatever software you have. compostion though is really good, and the choice of colours works well - the red background is lovely.

Hi Liz -- greetings from the Critique Club...

Congrats on your new highest score with one of your favorite models. First I must say "awww very sweet dog"

I like how you brought us up close to your subject. He's well positioned in the frame with his eyes nicely lit and in good focus. His paws being even but not 100% symetrical sits well with me (I would agree with those commenters who wanted you to clone out the hind leg as it adds only a distraction to your well composed shot) The direct eye contact works as you got me down to his level.

The little bit of pink is just the right accent but it gets overpowered by the green. I'd like to see a boring gray or a natural background (like dirt, wood, stone) so that your objective of showing off his black is met. The green keeps this shot from being "all about the subject"

If you have any questions, please pm me.

I look forward to more shots of Hammurabi in the future!

Regards,
Theresa

Some editing to enhance the colour and contrast would have made this score higher in my opinion.
