COMPOSITION... The blurred motion of the needle easily conveys the feeling of speed, and so meets the challenge easily. Compositionally, it probably would have succeeded more if distracting elements were eliminated - namely the hand. The black space between fabric and machine may also be considered as distracting, but not sure what the image would look like if the fabric extended from where it is now to the machine (if shot from a higher angle).
TECHNIQUE... A histogram of the image reveals your image is undexposed. A levels adjustment can correct this. Otherwise, focus and sharpness is good. |

fixed in a zipby snsComment by nborton: great idea and execution. i am torn between having fingers in the shot or not having them. not having them in the shot would help strengthen the subject through having less distractions. but having them in the shot helps add some realism. i guess its just a personal preference either way. |
