Cosmos at Jan's placeby snsComment by train: Hello Steven from the Critique Club
Your image is interesting but the over all effect is dull
It is the light effect that does that I think which is a shame as you have gone to a whole lot of effort to produce this
The white background looks greyish and that takes a lot from the image if you could backlight this I think it could stand out better or placed the image on a dark background maybe black and covered the whole tabletop with the same cloth it would appear to be balancing in space if you can understand what I mean.
Also there is a lot of reflection on the shaker which detracts from the balancing act and is a little soft in the focus this need to be really sharp with the blade
A very good effort at such a difficult image
I hope my comments help and if you have any questions you can contact me by P M
Good luck in your future challenges
Regards
Sally |

Cosmos at Jan's placeby snsComment by Staralfur: Great idea, good setup. The shadow of the backdrop and the tripod/lamp reflection in the mixer distract me from the overall composition. Still, better than average. |

Cosmos at Jan's placeby snsComment by C-town driver: Very neat idea and picture. I like the different elements, shapes, and colors in this shot. Makes it very interesting to look at. The only thing I found distracting is the noise and variations in shades in the backdrop. Nice shot nonetheless. |

Cosmos at Jan's placeby snsComment by justine: Your idea is good, but just too many elements here. Maybe try white balance so that the background doesn't look so grey. Good luck in the challenge. |

Cosmos at Jan's placeby snsComment by soniecat: Meets the challenge well. The reflections in the shaker are distracting, but hard to avoid, I know. THe only other suggestion I have for improvement would have been to shoot on a different table that wouldn't have caused the rounded shadow at the bottom of the picture. An additional soft light source might have fixed those shadows too. |

Cosmos at Jan's placeby snsComment by adine: Clever idea, an interesting illusion. The lighting is not very illuminating, and the reflections are distracting. If the lighting could help in the the illusion that the glass in suspended and perhaps be more dramatic, and the background should be flatter without crinkles and shadows. Perhaps against black, and on a black table would issolate the subject better. |
