Some have questioned the relevance of this image to the challenge. Knowing the model, I think of the defining features of her personality to the polka dot dress in the same way that you might consider: a cigarette to Marlene Dietrich; street pajamas to Katherine Hepburn; giant glasses to Elton John, etc. It's part of their "signature look," and we associate those looks with their features. In addition, I felt that her eyes echoed the polka dots very well. Perhaps one commenter was being "too literal" as they mentioned.

To answer another question, yes, she is a writer in addition to be the General Manager of an extremely successful café and bakery. She does have an incredible presence - "an enviable being-there-ness" as tnun picked-up on.

I'm not getting the connection of her dress to the feature that defines her or her personality.

I think I'm too literal.

I do love the portrait. I just wish you'd chosen... uhh... "her beautiful hands" or "her understanding eyes"... or... as her defining feature.
