docklandby whiteroomComment by Bud: Very grainy, the contrast and use of B&W make this interesting, the subject itself is great, the door & phone on the left & cars on the right in the background distract a bit. Anyhow, I give it an 8. |

entranceby whiteroomComment by oceankim: I really like this shot in black and white. I don't think it would be nearly as good in color. |

A Midsummer Nightby whiteroomComment by KaDi: Poignant and gritty! The color binds this composition well. Hard to look at, at first, but the execution of the image overcomes that. Interesting statement. |

docklandby whiteroomComment by auburnfan0930: if you could have got a better angle, without the phone and cars in this photo,
I feel it would have been an excellent shot. They really draw your eye. |

entranceby whiteroomComment by ergo: one of my personal favorites in terms of composition so far. Love the textures and the black and white choice. I feel the top is a bit over exposed though, and the lack of similar textures on those areas is a bit of a let down. Bumping to 8 to fix my voting curve :) |

docklandby whiteroomComment by AlexMonty: I love the subject, but it's a pity about the background. I like this B/W Style, but perhaps would have gone with a shallower DOF to try and obscure the background a little more, perhaps at the partial expense of some of the subject. Cool shot nonetheless, and I'm going to vote 6, would be more if there weren't those things in the BG. Where was this taken? Looks like a Telkom (South Africa) phone booth in the background.
Good luck with the challenge, particularly if you're a South African ;)

docklandby whiteroomComment by ergo: I like the composition a lot, with the foreground triangles evocative of something older and well used. The dodge job is a bit too much, I feel, and the background, with cars on the right side presenting several points of distraction. Deeper bokeh would have worked well here, imho. |
