I was right! Those Telkom phone booths are spottable a mile away! I think you captured this about as well as you possibly could have given the situation, you couldn't risk too shallow a DOF and I presume it wouldn't have worked from the other side? Love the textures.

I like the aged feeling of your picture. The wooden textures come out really well.

Good, but, background? ...
05/17/2005 04:21:35 AM
where the lines meet curves, wood meets metal, past meets present
I love these tones.

Sorry, the overexposure doesn't work for me

I like the grit and grain in this shot. Great coloring. I like the triangle on the door along with the big ones on the ground. I think I might have stepped to the right 1-1/2 steps to hide the phone behind the first beam. I don't know if you have room to do it, or if it would open up some other distraction by shooting from the new angle. Just a thought to share. Good Luck! 8

Very grainy, the contrast and use of B&W make this interesting, the subject itself is great, the door & phone on the left & cars on the right in the background distract a bit. Anyhow, I give it an 8.

if you could have got a better angle, without the phone and cars in this photo,
I feel it would have been an excellent shot. They really draw your eye.

I love the subject, but it's a pity about the background. I like this B/W Style, but perhaps would have gone with a shallower DOF to try and obscure the background a little more, perhaps at the partial expense of some of the subject. Cool shot nonetheless, and I'm going to vote 6, would be more if there weren't those things in the BG. Where was this taken? Looks like a Telkom (South Africa) phone booth in the background.

Good luck with the challenge, particularly if you're a South African ;)

I like the composition a lot, with the foreground triangles evocative of something older and well used. The dodge job is a bit too much, I feel, and the background, with cars on the right side presenting several points of distraction. Deeper bokeh would have worked well here, imho.
