I love the expression. this is a great looking little guy. i don't feel that the apple in hte hand is adding anything to this though, actually distracting from his great face.

uh huh. This picture works on so many levels, I can't even begin to talk about it. But here goes. Firstly, the color processing adds a very nice "aged" appearance. The dodge and burn jobs, which were obviously done in painstaking manner, mirrors the excellent quality of concentration on the part of the subject as he reads his newspaper. Secondly, there is a significant contrast tonality employed here. Finally, the translucence of the bags adds a quality of etherealness and solidity both at the same time. It's both a feather-light imaginative spark, at the same time that it performs a role as a solid anchor to the image."
