I wanted the flattening merge effect but at the same time didn't. It's a candid of a young man walking past graffiti. I think it's the result of seeing a Kara Walker Show and listening to John Coltrane. At least that's my excuse.

A winged angel with a speech bubble (strange speech, though).

Love the light on the faces and picking out the details of the produce.

Crop is brilliant, so is the B&W. A lot to learn from this shot.

I keep looking. Don't know how much you cropped from the original because it looks absolutely impeccable. It's as if your eye and the camera focused on this scene that was already cropped in real life. No composition was necessary.

Thanks for the nice comment. I do like how the image fills the square. This was a spontaneous grab so careful framing wasn't an option. The original unedited file is below.

Stunning. One of your best, Henry.
There is so much to this story. The capture is like an interior still, the man smoking and looking with pride at the woman packing the harvest, a sense of well being and a bit of a secrecy also.

And you're right about thinking of Alex Webb. The crisp quality and vibrancy of the photograph is, yes, again, stunning.

the angling and position of the figures are great - it feels like a classical painting
