Nifty... Though a bit too soft focus for me.

Really nice use of b/w and depth of field to draw attention to the texture and not the entire leaf.

Good luck

Nice filter. The composition is very effective. I might use a touch more contrast. Simple and effective 8

Great Shot, should have been in the family challenge. I'd give it a 10.

Nice conversion to b/w. The photo makes us of all available tones in the spectrum. I like the idea of the photo, father and son out enjoying themselves. Excellent work.

What an awesome capture! I really love it! Not only the tone and feel of the two "boys", but the gradient sky is awesome, along with the boats and water in the background. Great capture! :)

Okay, I'll give you my thoughts (There aren't a lot of them)...

First the bad news...It's slightly crooked and the "Ford" could use some light on it. I don't care for the background either.

The nuetral news...I would have loved to have seen a yellow turn signal light on with keeping the rest of the picture B&W.

The good news...It's a nice and clear picture. I'm not sure if it's actually noise or just the texture of the truck showing through, but I like it.

Overall, there isn't anything to really draw the eye. I've looked at your portfolio and I know you can take some great pictures, just this one leaves me wanting something more.

But what do I know. I've only entered five challenges since I joined in February and I'm just an amature photographer wannabe. Take whatever I say with a couple grains of salt, as I don't really know what I'm talking about most of the time.

Personally, the subject matter is not something that generates a lot of interest but that is just a personal bias and others will feel differently about it. But as a photo I think it has nice graphic lines and creates impact. I like the greyscale effect you have achieved and the lighting is very appealing. I suggest it needs rotating CCW slightly and maybe cropping a bit more top and bottom to create clean graphic lines. I would also select the background to the right and convert it to pure black to remove the distracting background and create a high impact contrast.

David,

I typically enjoy viewing your work, but to be honest, this particular image doesn't do anything for me. It seems to have no real point of emphasis to it. I hope you don't think of me as being rude, but I just want to be honest. The shot appears to be tilted to the right a bit, and the image seems to be cut in two by the line of the truck. I'm not quite sure what the focal point is...should I be looking at the emblem or the light or what? The dark patches in the background on the lower portion of the fence/barrier/whatever it is are distracting as well, pulling the eye further away from the part of the image that is in focus.

I do, however, like the duotone you used, and think it will be quite useful for other images in the future.

Like I said, I hope you don't take this as being rude, because I just want to let you know my thoughts since you asked. :)
