Comment by Bankson:
I like the colors and the subject capures my interest, but the composition could be so much more dramatic perhaps from a more harsh angle to complement the harsh subject. Good job

Love the rocks as "leading lines" and spot-on post processing. Congrats on the ribbon!

Comment by Bear_Music:
It always astonishes me that so many people have a gut reaction of "BAD!" to a centered subject. That's just ridiculous. In this particular shot, we're dealing with frozen motion, for example, and frozen motion = stasis, and the centrally-placed subject underscores that stasis very nicely. Besides, she's NOT dead-on-center, she's shifted a tad left and down, and this is a very good thing; almost-but-not-quite centered can be quite powerful.

But then, anyone who looks at my work will realize I do a LOT of centering or near-centering, so I guess I'm "prejudiced", eh?

IMNSHO, the Rule of Thirds is a point of departure, and off-center is not always best.

That tall smokestack in the background is pretty neat, too.

Amazing what a little crop can do! It really turned out beautifully, even though it wouldn't do for "panning". Pitty there's not a "motion freeze" challenge going on.
