In my experience toys, ornaments, flags and soft focus tend not to go down well at DPC. Unfortunately you have a fair number of these elements in your image.

Since I am lacking in technical skills, I cannot give helpful comments. I am strictly a photo buff who is trying to improve, but as to telling you what is wrong or right, I am in no position to say. I'm not sure I really understand the shot, but the DoF is effective at focussing attention on the objects you wanted in a certain order.

This was a creative idea. Good use of DOF. With regard to composition, I would have removed that brown lump of something - it doesn't add much and I'm not sure what it's supposed to be or represent (sorry). I might have gone with either the house or the figure, but the figure being larger than the house seems off to me. Lighting and focus are good. Overall, this is a decent image. Good luck in the challenge.
