The same has happened to the NYC skyline... such a shame. You captured and titled this well.

Hello from the critique club

An appealing image that contributes to the challenge well

Vermeer would have been proud of it Ellie! A nice play of shadow and light it is really quite appealing. Given the scene I think your aperture was too small, I would have thought you could have achieved the same DOF with f8 or thereabouts for a faster shutter speed/ISO combination which I would always recommend for best image quality.

Hello from the critique club

An interesting image that fulfils the challenge brief fully

Well you had some of your commenters foxed Ellie, so you have achieved the challenge brief. Your composition with the hook in the prominent position it is for me reveals it as the subject matter. âWhat else could I have done to sharpen this on a dull day?â Well, you are close to maximum aperture, a smaller aperture would have given you a deeper DOF thus making more of your subject sharper, to compensate for the slower shutter speed you would have needed to increase the ISO and also reflecting some natural light back into the subject could have helped too.

7 from me. The colors are a bit drab, but I love the shadows.
