Stone Face

Stone Face

Comment by dsherwin:
The features of face are more defined in the thumbnail than the orignal.

I wonder if a photo of the whole statue or more of the face at a wider angle with less intimate detail of the stone effect would be better.

The DOF is very pleasant and helps with the defintion of the face.

Greetings from the Critique Club

This image lets you say why the two matches what was the purpose. The match on the right just doesn't do anything for the photo except to be distracting.

Your lighting seems good and the subject is in good focus you definately met the challenge well with this.

Even now looking at it I wonder why isn't the one match or the candle lit for effect?

Maybe you could try this photo with the matches lit.

i think the right match is useless,or at least we should have seen the right hand, then it would've been more on center.this way,it's too off center, otherwise,i like it,except that also, what are you doing with the matches?i don't see any light.maybe because of the white background.6

I can see detail in the candel all the way to the edge, so you did really well mot to blow out the highlights. I wish I could see a little more color though.

I realy like this photo. Selective desat definitaly does not work in most cases, but it looks amazing in your take of it. It tells a story, and to me, that is what is important.

I like this one in comparison to the others. The others it is just a building. This one seems to tell a story. What's going on the room with the colored window? Whats special? Or something like that.
lots of people hate selective desat but i think its ok when used at the right times. this being one of those.

I took a shot like this very similar about a year ago for one of my school projects. I think only about half of the "round things" (couldnt think of a better term) are in focus, and if maybe a few more of them could be in focus, it would be for the better. I think the composition is pretty good too. Nice shot!

Greetings from the critque club.

I think you did well in choosing this subject for your greeting card entry. It immediately says what it means - no guessing or trying to figure out what point you are trying to make.

I like the choice of turning this into a black and white image. It fits with your subject matter. For me, some of the shadowed areas are a bit too dark and I would have liked to have seen it a bit more crisper all around and maybe even just a hint more contrast too.

I like the composition and the unobstrusive background sky. For me, this keeps the focus on your subject.

Overall, well done. I look forward to seeing more of your work. Thank you.
