The roots are great. Sky is barely visible, so I would suggest to crop it out and focus on the roots. It would've been interesting to move a bit to the right to get different persective and give the picture more air by getting rid of the heavy tree on the left or making it less prominent.

What does this for me is the use of color. So many folks went with b&w or silver/gray. There is a simplicity in the elegance of the color. I wonder what this looks like tilted 180 degrees...right now the camera is upside down. Could be distracting, yet perhaps this angle is correct...wish I could turn my monitor on it's head to figure it out.

This is not dappled light in my opinion - dappled light is light shining through several small apertures, functioning as pinhole cameras, creating circular images on the ground. Sorry, did not vote on this one.
