Background is distracting - lighting is your flash- shadows too harsh. Doesn't work with the topic for me

Great idea, I love the smell of fresh apples. Maybe a closer shot where the apples filled the frame, or a large bushel of apples would look beter. You got the idea here, just a more interesting composition would help, I think.

Wonderful smell, especially this time of year. Your flash need a bit of toning down. Give a plastic bag, napkin, or tissue a try.......they will damper the bright light.
