Greetings from the Critique Club!

The title of your image made me laugh because my bf, Magnumphotography, fits that descrip to a T, check out his profile and you'll see :-)

I do like the sense of depth that the flower gives but its shape doesn't automatically register as a flower; it may have been better to put the spider by itself on the tabletop, or even on a miniature set of some sort, have some fun with it. The greyish b/g is amorphous and tends to compete with the light colour of the flower for the eye. The spider itself looks quite colourful and friendly but yeah, spiders and bugs generally don't get much of a fair shake here...unless you're roz, also an Aussie. She's brilliant at macros and can definitely give you some pointers. I like the eye-level POV, it's a bit unsettling. Which is probably why I like it!

Overall not a bad finish at all for one of your first entries. Get Mr Spider out and have some fun shooting him/her in different areas, different focal lengths. Experiment and have fun and by all means keep entering imges that you like.

Feel free to PM me,

Susan

Thanks everyone for the nice words and an 8 from the challenge winner! Thanks Wendy,I was just happy to finish above 5 with my first entry!.I agree the shot would be better without the lights in the room showing but I wanted to show I was actually standing back from the window and didn't just paste a window onto a black background.Bring on the challenges 2012,loving dpc!

Don't understand the low placement on this one. It was an 8 from me! Nicely done!

DOF is too narrow here and I can not see all the fun details that would make this spier so interesting. Title is a bit odd as well.

I think the narrow dof give a allusion of greater size (either that or my fear of the subject). nicely placed focal point, and angle of view.

An unconventional interpretation of the theme with a big appeal and a wonderful golden tone. It deserved much more IMO.
I think it would be even better without the small light dots on the left.
