This is a very nice shot - has a feel of caution about it - the squirrel in the shadows, observing the observer. You've cropped it just right in my opinion. Focus is excellent. Probably the best squirrel shot I've ever seen.

I like the way that the cross component of the fence is aligned with the shoreline. The sky is wonderfully lit and I love this picture. I guess it's because the fencing adds another layer to the seascape.

This is better composed than your winning shot. The light and colors are in general better, but the use of the pink filter is a bit too obvious here as it covers part of the sand. Still, I like this one better. It would be interesting to see if it would have won though given the more obvious use of the filter and the placement issue.
