My initial reaction to this image was not real positive, but then I took into account that this is an ART challenge and I figured that anyone who took the time to enter a "non-traditional" photo was in fact being artistic! So I think the jarringness (is that a word?) of the photo is part of your intended process.

I would suggest that you clone out your sensor dust in the future. The spots are a bit distracting.

i wasn't hoping for just shock and awe, that was just how i wanted to make people pause.
i did like the stark qualities of the image juxtaposed over what should be a serene landscape, the harsh daytime sky reflected in negative (night) in the lake.

I really wanted to put forth something that would make people think about what they were seeing as more than just pixels on the screen and a snapshot of a place.

I was shocked how very easy this was to accomplish, and after getting a delayed "huh...." resection from my wife, i knew i had succeeded in doing what i hoped for.

Yes, but getting them in the door is only half the battle. Even so, I'm not sure this was worthy of the brown. I gave it a six, maybe only because I couldn't justify anything higher or lower. It has an interesting graphic quality, and I think it was made with some vision, in spite of your statement suggesting that it should hold up on its shock value alone.

To my eye, the jarring extreme departure from what appears to have started out as a realistic landscape yanks my attention from the image to the technique itself. Feels like being shouted at, or maybe like running across a band playing with amplifiers cranked past the pain point. Instead of contemplating the image for possible artistic merit, I end up feeling distracted by the technical aspect and feel vaguely annoyed without it being a genuine emotional involvement with negative but powerful work of art.
