Tangerine Crossvineby PDavisComment by Jovi: The focus is either off or you were intentionally focussing on the leaf. The flash on this shot doesn't work well either IMO. A longer exposure would have been better. In fairness to camera's where you can't adjust those settings try using the "night" mode (moon shaped icon). Also if you don't have a tripod, use some place where you can put your camera while its taking the shot. (window ledge, railings etc.). And to fix the focussing here, center the camera where you'd like the focus to be (in this case, the flowers) by half-pressing the shutter.. while your finger is on the shutter, recompose the shot and press fully. Try it and let me know if that helps. Good luck. 4 |

Tangerine Crossvineby PDavisComment by Bibliophile: You need a little more depth of field. It feels odd to look at a picture that has unfocused things infront of the main subject. If you had focused on the front buds, or captured all of them in focus this would be a much straonger picture. What you do have in focus is very nice, there's just too little of it. |

Dog Fancyby PDavisComment by brett2004: I hope who ever the boxer puppy's owner is knows what they are getting into!! I have a brindle female (6yrs) and she was quite the handful in her puppy days. So much training!!! Good luck!
If you have Photoshop or another post-editing program I would suggest playing with the levels and colors to bring out the puppy more. He/she blends in to the background so much. I would say use a better light source, but I know it is impossible to get a boxer puppy where you want them and to stay long enough to take the picture!!! |

Dog Fancyby PDavisComment by moodville: First thing I notice is the landscape orientation, but I'm sure a magazine layout editor could still work with it. You've got close, which is good, but in doing so you've cropped out parts of the dog that could look odd if the shot isnt full frame like it is now. S/he has something in his/her mouth but you cannot see exactly what and so it becomes more of a distraction. The white on the right hand side looks blown, but part of the nose is dark so there is some uneven exposure. There isnt much to see of the left eye as it falls within the dark area so some dodging in a photo editor may help some. |
