I hope who ever the boxer puppy's owner is knows what they are getting into!! I have a brindle female (6yrs) and she was quite the handful in her puppy days. So much training!!! Good luck!

If you have Photoshop or another post-editing program I would suggest playing with the levels and colors to bring out the puppy more. He/she blends in to the background so much. I would say use a better light source, but I know it is impossible to get a boxer puppy where you want them and to stay long enough to take the picture!!!

First thing I notice is the landscape orientation, but I'm sure a magazine layout editor could still work with it. You've got close, which is good, but in doing so you've cropped out parts of the dog that could look odd if the shot isnt full frame like it is now. S/he has something in his/her mouth but you cannot see exactly what and so it becomes more of a distraction. The white on the right hand side looks blown, but part of the nose is dark so there is some uneven exposure. There isnt much to see of the left eye as it falls within the dark area so some dodging in a photo editor may help some.

(I'm writing this to everyone who submitted a landscape shot) The challenge was to produce a shot worthy of a magazine cover but to me a shot like this is not suitable to be put on a "portrait" format magazine.

---ADDITIONAL---
Due to forum discussions and accusations that marking landscapes down is nitpicking, I'm going through them and remarking. I still think some of the landscapes would not make good covers because of their orientation but I am no longer marking down because of that.
I still think landscape is inapropriate for the majority of magazines but I'll give the benefit of the doubt to the photographers.

Such a face. :) I'm sure this is a loving pet, they are wonderful dogs. So good with kids.
