MemberIraklis I love the way this person freezes life and dishes it up for us.

MemberNikonJeb Awesome capture! It does look frozen in time....I love the busy aspect of this scene. Nicely done!

MemberBear_Music It's really extraordinary how EVERYONE is caught mid-stride, and how there is no overlap. It's so extraordinary I actually wonder if everyone was added, if this is an expertly-done montage. But it doesn't really matter to me. This is an outstanding image. I think the PP could have been done a little better. I'm not objecting to the tone-mapped look at all, I just think it could have been done more smoothly. But it's not bad, so that's a nit. I *might* have been inclined to use the skew tool to straighten up the verticals; they are so close to correct that it seems accidental they are not, since the horizontals ARE well squared-up for the most part ΓΆ€” although at the upper right they've come a bit adrift as well. It's not that I'm completely anal about that sort of thing, at least not on this type of shot, but I *do* like to see either absolute precision or significant-enough deviation from square that it looks intentional.

MemberBAMartin Its almost as if this was choreographed. I love how NO ONE is looking at the camera.

Les_Feck I've favorited images like this previously (quite possibly by the same photographer), however, this is not one of the better images of this type I've seen. To move the image beyond the novelty, for me, requires a quirkier stage and cast of characters.

Memberdigifotojo This is a very well processed image but it holds no particular interest for me. Just another street scene.

pointandshoot You have created a whole new genre with your works. Excellent.

MemberKali I feel so left out.

posthumous hey man, if I knew how to do this I'd probably do it over and over, too. It really is an amazing effect.

chromeydome Well, since my reflexes are best measured with a calendar, I will never capture a moment like this, will always miss it. I would like to think you just shoot video and then extract the perfect moment, since that would make me feel better about myself! Seriously--the comment about your having created a new genre is spot on. So well done, well seen, well executed, and well presented.

bobonacus I love how everyone is moving in a different direction, there are lots of people in this shot but everyone is alone with no interaction with another human, all going about their lives doing their best to ignore anyone. They are mostly doing different things with their hands as well. This really is an excellent capture (or great pp work :))

Memberubique Oh bugger! It can have only one author, so it's hard to leave an objective comment because I'm a fawning fan. These photographs always have the most improbable symmetries ... in this case a nearly unbelievable consonance is the appearance of three 'reds' on the right and three 'yellows' on the left! There's also one 'uncommitted' on each side (presumably these two are on the bench rather than starters). There's also a nice little rimshot associated with the 'I Hour Photo' and 'Passport Photos' signs, just to remind us that Life is photos and photos is Life, which is perhaps the theme of this entire series. I think (insert immoderate superlative here). So there.

MemberBear_Music 762724.jpg Awarded the Silver Paw in the Best of 2008 Posthumous Open Challenge.

MemberKali I feel so left out not recognizing whose style this is... since everyone else seems to know, hmmpft. I hope they're all wrong. It's like extreme slow-mo and I swear I can see them moving but my brain knows better.

undieyatch Orchestration of movement from within this viewfinder is so very excellent.

Membertnun Yep. Recognizable and still fun.

Unreal! I missed this until it showed up in the 2008 peoples choice awards threads. This is not only one of the coolest photos I've seen on this site... it is one of the my favorite photos period - just so good! If you ever decide to make a print available let me know, I have a spot on my wall where this would be perfect!

I nominated this for Best of 2008 too. It is something I never tire of looking at, the best decisive moment I saw all year.

no really...it's squared ;) 3 x 3 = 9 ...3 x 3 x3 ...would be quite a feat. But I'm glad after all this time you still like it. Unfortunately, I think we both need to get out more ;)

Just found this response to a comment I made years ago; seems like another life entirely.
I appreciated the fact that the triptych was 'squared' in terms of overall image geometry. My thinking in saying cubed was that all of the three images in the trip are in fact trips in themselves (thanks to the tree and the lamp post). And thus 'cubed'. It made a cartoon strip effect that I loved back then, and have lost no affection for in the years since. In fact I admire it even more. Absence does indeed make the hard go Fonda, or whatever it is that they say.

Browsing through your portfolio of street stuff ('specially the 10-22's) is like a visit to an exhilarating new exhibition, except no parking problems and I'm not wearing any shoes.

Limited attention span I guess. And bear in mind that this guy was apparently the most attentive viewer you had (given that nobody else commented at all) ... you must really suck.
