Love it. Brings back memories of my days a FF, EMS. I must do some more ride alongs with the local boys.
I don't mind the "our view" that Neil mentions, perhaps because I was always in the middle cutting someone out of their vehicle or trying to keep the swivel neckers away.

Works well in B&W as it cuts the drama to the bone. Simplifies it. Sanitises it.

Nice tones...makes you want to explore the story. The only nit is that it's "our view" we would see from the sidelines. Reporters make the best photos by taking us where we "can't go".

This was close enough and excellent capture here.
tells a compelling story without getting in the way of the crew.
It seems to be coming from a low angle which adds to the drama.

I really like he movement of the clouds and how it mimics the lines in the sand.

I do fins myself wishing the rocks were either fully black (silhouette) or brighter to show more detail.

i keep coming back to this photo, i just wish it wasnt so bad...
but on a technical note, oz, maybe denoise the foreground a a wee bit.. no one will notice though

Very nice B&W and cute pose. I enjoy the alternative take. Perhaps having the bone more in focus would have in this case helped, as I am having trouble making what it is, but it might be just me.
