reminds me of the decorative oranges people grow.. i was down in phoenix with a buddy of mine at his grandma's summer home... every plant there is the devil.. cacti are soooo lame.. some of their needles jut out of the ground feet away from the base of the actual plant! HOW LAME IS THAT??? well, nobody told me.. anyway, after i stopped bleeding, we had a 'ornamental orange' brawl.. we chucked those things at each other for so long. they smelled really good but apparantly they're really acidic.. wow.. no reason to tell you that story, but i'm not deleting it now.. nice picture.

I like the oranges against the out-of-focus abstract background. IMHO cropping out the whole right-hand part of the picture would improve it dramatically.

It meets the challenge, but it isn't that good of a photo. Maybe if the writing was in focus it would be more interesting. (if I were in a bad mood I'd say then the viewer would at least have something to read, but that would be mean and you don't deserve that). I like your thinking though.
