Vividby frumoazniculComment by bpickard: Having read your opinions in the forums, is this a sly dig at a certain photographic style prominent at DPC or an attempt to stamp your own vision on a rather hackneyed, yet iconic, image at DPC? The distinction is subtle but comes down to your intention. I think it is the latter: I get the sense that you wished to go down an organic route rather than plastic-perfect. There is a transition from left to right from wood to linen to flesh which works well in terms of texture and colouration. I guess the title hints at this 'living' approach. Ben |

Feeling The Jazzby frumoazniculComment by Neuferland: Greetings from Critique Club!
From Romania! My sister-in-law is from Romania!
Anyway, this is a great shot! I love it! Had I the chance to vote I would have given it a 7 or 8. The overall composition, the motion on the hands, it's all great. But the high contrast is not really there for me. Some is there but nothing that really stands out against each other, lots of grays.
But again, a great shot otherwise.
Hope this helps.

Vividby frumoazniculComment by thomaspeople: Lovely face, especially the eyes. The focus is excellent everywhere except for one small area of the cloth, in the center of the fold between the face and the tree(?) This is probably a DOF problem. Still, this is a beautiful portrait. |

Vividby frumoazniculComment by RKT: I must honestly say that I find the whole "head wrap" thing a bit played out...this image would have been just as lovely without the scarf...unless of course she is Muslim...then I might understand the head wrap. |
