Flightby goinskiingComment by beckettboots: Greetings from the Critique Club
Composition: Very intresting. You have strong diagonal lines with excellent forced perspective. I question the crop of the photo - I think I'd like to see the louvers framed to start more to the left for a pleasing line that keeps the eye in frame.
Background: great muted color and soft focus on the grid.
Camera Work: (Focus/DOF/Exposure) Great DOF and focus on the foreground elements. The edges are nice and crisp and add to the color difference along the edge.
Post Processing: n/a
The Challenge: Wonderful abstract, great muted colors and compelling lines.
My Opinion: I like the pallette and color balance very much. The muted tones and dreamy quality are wonderfully evocative - it gives the feel that this object is from the fifties because of the blueness of the white. The composition of lines is only slightly off to me - an angle that gives a greater incline to the louvers or a crop or shift to the left would also help, IMO.

April Showers in the Northwestby goinskiingComment by jpochard: Hi there from the Critique Club.
I like the colors in this shot. No, it doesn't "pop" out at you, but not all photos are meant to do that. This just has a nice, natural feel to it. I would have liked a little more emphasis on the main flower section with the water. I do like the dof although it appears to me that the main subject is a little out of focus.
As for meeting the challenge, I agree with some of the commentors that this shot doesn't strike me as having a strong element of where a person lives. I wouldn't deduct anything because I can see how it could work - but I wouldn't add anything to the score because it's really not a strong part of the photo.
I also think that the very slightly faded edge works with this shot.
Nice job! I hope you have found this helpful. I always enjoy seeing your shots and comments in the forums. |
