I think the lighting on this shot is excellent. The contrasting colors of the red/green/white combination also work very nicely. The diagonal orientation of this setup seems to enhance the composition quite a bit as well... the choice of a white plate was good here... it not only makes a good presentation for your food, but it makes it stand out in the photograph as well... I can smell the basil :)

Something in the lighting here, or in the possible motion of the hidden person, makes the subject seem blurry. I'm not sure how to fix that in digital photography, but I think a faster 'film speed' might have helped.

prize for the best use of a cheese grater here. Weird and effective, although the one white/ hotspot lets this down - and it is bang in a focal point, at the chin of the mask - where all the lines lead to. high marks for originality
