That's such a classic bit of history, the town gate. I can imagine what it looked like on a busy day 400 or so years ago. I like your rendition too. It reminds me of those little gouache or watercolour paintings one used to see in England's many teashops (now sadly gone for the most part).

HDR? The colors look unnatural and a little flat, especially in the distant tree line around the tower. A light burn and some contrast boost might help here a little. All JMO of course. :D I like how you've incorporated the tree branches (foreground), and water grasses, to create some natural framing. Good luck in the challenge.

Nice composition, I like the framing with the branches. Maybe a little more detail in the far shore would be nice, it just seems a little lacking in contrast and maybe a little washed out. The sky is nice.
