the mysterious islandby mariucaComment by tnun: now this is something. the sorceress sprinkles everything with the magical coal dust, and voila something that was not there before now is, and we are thrilled and appalled at the same time. |

black on white and shades of greyby mariucaComment by lei_73: that's one of my favorite photos in this challenge! what did you use for B&W conversion? It's such a terrific light (love the purse rim), especially for the public transportation! :-) Hand looks fragile and strong at the same time...10 |

the mysterious islandby mariucaComment by Revecca: My top pick for this challenge. It's different and has a dark, eerie feeling that I love. Also, the grainy aspect of it adds a lot of personality. |

the mysterious islandby mariucaComment by streetpigeon: Usually a gritty city-scape is contrasted with a lovely, fresh, ethereal sky, but here that formula is confounded by extending the grittiness into that very sky. And it works quite well, in conjunction with a balanced composition and an interesting set of clouds. The dark cloud to the right -- which is hopefully not a swarm of locusts -- of course sets the tone, setting up both balance and dichotomy. Interesting and rewarding. |

different timesby mariucaComment by ubique: Remarkable how connected the young man and the soldiers are, each of them anchored in the time-shadow of the other like this. Also admire the fact that you didn't crop out the foreground tree, thus giving stage to your players. There's a lot to relish and to learn from in this deceptively offhand photograph. Thank you. |
