summer is doneby wkmenComment by TooCool: This shot is very busy and I'm not sure what you are trying to say with it. There are too many elements and not enough lines to lead your eye to a subject. Is there a subject? Also, the colors are a tad bit flat maybe due to not enough lighting. The image is also flat. What lighting did you use? Ambient light? Try using a light (as simple as a table lamp or clamp lamp) on one side to create shadows, textures and depth.
Hope it ain't too negative for ya, just sayin' what I see.

pier reflectionsby wkmenComment by samtrundle: This is a really great shot, love the misty horizon contrasting with the dark support structure - makes for an interesting contrast. Very moody image - this one is a success. |

pier at sunsetby wkmenComment by BADDBOYY21: I like the overall composition of the photo. All in all I think it's a great shot. For a sunset, the colors aren't that dramatic. I'd try adjusing the levels and maybe play around with hue/saturation. |

backlit leavesby wkmenComment by Jinjit: Wonderful!
The colors are so vivid and cheerful. The light and shadows are mixed up in such fantastic way it actually make it very hard for the viewer (or at least for me) to trace the contour of each leaf separately. It looks like some kind of visual-trick: Is the right leaf on top of the other one or under it? ...

solitary sunsetby wkmenComment by Neil: This has a wonderful mood, but I would like to see two changes here:
1) Noise reduction
2) Separation of the foreground sillouette from the background. In other words, some sort of tonal separation--otherwise, his/her head is lost in the mountains. It looks like there's a bit of light/sun halow around his/her head. That could be just the ticket, if it can be emphasized. Or the levels/exposure of the foreground and background could be done in two passes and the foreground or background lightened a bit. |

estate courtyardby wkmenComment by Jinjit: I also am not too fond of this one.
I think it is too busy. Too many interesting things for the eye to catch.
The lines of the trees is a beautiful subject for itself. I think you don't do it justice while making it just a background.
The same goes for the building and the roofed way to it.
The color of the sky also look a bit weird and un-natural.
I would love to see the trees and/or the building in a loser look when you give more attention to each one separately. |

life's ebb & flowby wkmenComment by Jinjit: Something in the colors gives a bit of unreal feeling. The blue is too cyan. There's something funny about the sparks on the water... I can't really explain this, but I don't get the dynamic feeling the sea usually gives. Something is too fixed in this picture.
Personally I don't find the log distructing. I like its shape despite the soft focus. There's definately a 70's smell to this picture :-)

pier reflectionsby wkmenComment by gloda: I like the interesting point of view of this picture. It is not one of the typical beach shots. The composition is well done, the reflection and the horizon divide the image into three harmonic parts, so do the two bigger poles. I also like how the waves further split the central horizontal stripes into triangles.
I don't know what to think about the houeses. Have you considered cloning them out yet? I'd do the same with that piece of rope in the upper-right corner. |
