HallgrÃmskirkjaby HalldorIngiComment by ArnaMarie: Great shot! I visited Reykjavik this summer and found it really difficult to capture this impressive church. Well done! I bit more sharpness in the door and I would have scored it even higher. |

Straight Aheadby HalldorIngiComment by JakeKurdsjuk: Absolutely gorgeous. I'd easily give this 10 if the slight skewing of the center line didn't bother me so much. I want it not to, and I can see that you are indeed over the center of some type of rail, but that initial gab is more distracting than anything else. So it's a 9 instead. Folks up north have such an unfair advantage in these challenges. ;) |

Straight Aheadby HalldorIngiComment by sacredspirit: You make it really hard to critique when the shot is mere perfection. LOL. One of my top choices in the challenges, great, great job. |

The Northern Skyscape by HalldorIngiComment by HalldorIngi: Originally posted by MNet: I just checked and this was taken only half an hour drive from your capital so if I go to Iceland next October I will not need to go far? Awesome image, well deserved Blue! : ) |
Thanks :)
I have taken aurora shots from my balcony so no ;)
But to but to get some foreground and get rid of the city light, yes, 10-40 min drive.
Kleifarvatn is good place (ca 30 min) but Þingvellir is wery popular and some times crowded with aurora hunters. (ca 45 min drive)
Then there is a lot of small lakes and mountains around Reykjavik, which are good places for aurora shots.
If you go through my aurora frames on flickr all of them are geotagged so you can scout some places.

Also a clever way is to search flickr for: aurora, norðurljós, þingvellir, kleifarvatn straumur, hvalfjörður, kirkjufell, reykjavik for sample and scout the result :) Message edited by author 2014-09-22 11:51:10. |
