The Black Beachby HalldorIngiComment by Teafran: I had to look at this three or four times - I can't quite express what I feel is wrong here. In fairness, it is an interesting shot, but the darker tones in the foreground and distance dissolution of detail don't peak my interest. |

Þingvellirby HalldorIngiComment by HalldorIngi: Thanks for the votes and comments.
Yes Ja-9 this is the benefit of being such a small country, for us the locals in Reykjavik its only a 30 min drive and its dark enough to see the aurora.
This place þingvellir is ca 45 min drive from Reykjavik so its rather easy for us to take a quick trip whenever we feel like it. (and we do that a lot)
Sept-April is dark enough to see the lights. Okt-Feb is darker (better). Nov-Feb you get snow, which is better for brighter foregrounds but ice and snow on the roads.
The aurora activity has been very high for past 3 years which make this rather easy, read the weather forecast, pick a spot for the night, go and wait. Out of each 10 trips, 2-3 gives you something. 1 of 20 gives you something like this.
