My goodness, that was yet another story I've not read before. Rough life for poor Lily, I must say. Not sure why your lion is blue; maybe this was taken before his Lily found him again? Might be too subtle. I suspect a golden lion would score better and probably better represent his lion incarnation. So I'd either do this in B&W or maybe sepia, or hue-shift him to gold.
