It's funny isn't it, people spend loads of money on toys and stuff for kids and their more than happy just playing in the dirt :)

I'm with Robert, the processing doesn't appeal to me in this shot. I love her eyes, her position, and the look on her face, but I want a nice soft process for such a cute girl.

Her little socks are so cute.

It always irritates me as well that I can't post anything of children or my kids in challenges because they seem to get beat up, simply because they're of my kids. I've received the most rude comments on shots of children because voters assumed they were my children.

Having said that, I really like some things about this image. I like her expression and the arms in the air. I actually think she is engaging. I do agree that there's probably not enough contrast in colors for challenge entry. Additionally, the focus seems a little soft. I also would have increased the brightness and contrast on her eyes to make them pop a little and cloned out the glare of the saliva on her tongue.

All just my opinion of course. She's such a cute subject though... keep taking shots of her and entering them for those of us who do like baby shots. :)

Its fun to play with new layering styles, I find myself doing the same thing. While I like the layering style, I think in this case your grandaughter would look better as is. I like the look on her jeans and shirt but you might try masking the layer style over the face to get a more natural look.

i love the pose, her lovely dirty face and those cute-as little hands .. her eyes are amazing .. & she really stands out from the background .. but i sort'v feel the same as robert .. i'm not that taken with the very smooth look on your gorgeous granddaughter .. its all a matter of opinion and i'm sure there'd be heaps of ppl who would love this process tho .. .. & playing is fun .. its like kids learn from play and so do we .. !! ..:)

Oh dear; the picture has intense, big-eye charm, but haven't you sort of negated it with the strange, plasticy surface the filter is laying on things? Still, it's good to experiment. You kept the untouched original, right? (wink)

I can't unfortunately clearly see him, indeed. Moreover the image don't say "fill flash" IMO - and even don't say obviously flash. I'm this capture was a great moment for you, but seen from here, as a photographic result, it's less interesting.

nice capture, good work with your fill flash, great title (cause it looks like the doe is wearing an eye patch!)

Overall, this is a decent photo. What keeps it from being great is too much vignetting (in my eyes), the feeling of over-sharpening, and the half covered face.
