Lone Berryby KelliComment by 4trtone: I think this photo would be more effective if you changed the point of view to highlight and focus on the one berry. |

Lone Berryby KelliComment by violinist123: The purple berry, presumably your subject, might work just a bit better had you moved over to the side it is on and then taken the photo. As it is, there is this large, red, out of focus branch in the way with a little bit of a berry trying to make an appearance behind it. Good luck. |

Hmmm...wonder how I get out of this one?by KelliComment by Kelli: Hey Tim,
You asked so I'll tell... what I was going for with the processing was a cartoon look, since FarSide is a cartoon. I went to the zoo specifically to shoot this and the tree for the Lone Tree challenge. 2 birds and all that. I had two ideas for this challenge (the other being what I posted for an outtake, which was my first idea, this was the fall back). Larson used a lot of animals, and a lot of the times they were getting the best of the humans. That's what I was going for here. I wanted it to appear that the frog swallowed the child in retaliation for messing with it's children (the eggs behind it). I didn't want to copy an exact cartoon (of which I have a whole book of his). I'm finding I never do well with original ideas here though.
edit to add: the frog actually had a big hole in the back for the kids to climb into, I just filled it in with Photoshop. Message edited by author 2006-09-26 21:15:41. |

Hmmm...wonder how I get out of this one?by KelliComment by timfythetoo: Well - you got hit hard on this one. I had a feeling this was yours when you were posting your score in the threads. I give you credit for attempting some pretty intense postprocessing, although I guess I wasnt really sure what you were shooting for. I too didnt get the tie in to Larson, but then I didnt get all of his work either. I think your editing just sent this over the top into way abstract land and it couldnt find its way back. I would be interested in hearing your vision and concept though. That might bring a bit of clarity into the work. |

Shinyby KelliComment by Mick: Interesting, but not abstract enough. Perhaps converting to B&W and increasing the contrast would have helped. |
