Some kind of berry bush that grows along side my house. I don't know how I got the black background. I took about 15 shots and this is the only one that came out that way. Not the best focus, but I like it.

Heh - you and I both seemed to like the diagonal/part out of focus thing for this challenge. Not sure what's up with the voters these days - I really do think they're getting harsher all the time. This has a nice abstract feel to it - good lines.

I gav ethis a 5. Fooey on the "it's pink not purple" people - if they read te title they would have seen that your focus was the berry. And even if it wasnt, I would consider the restof the plant to be a shade of purple - definitley not worthy of a DNMC vote. The layout seems a bit busy and cluttered. A differetn angle may have freed up some negative space between the stems. The sharpness seems a bit off as well. And to gaurantee a black background whenever you shoot just carry around a $30 piece of black velvet - works every time.

Consider increased focal length and crop so viewer's eye is drawn to the berry

The berry is slightly out of focus... I think.

The berry is lost with the dark B/R. Really had to look hard to find it.

I think this photo would be more effective if you changed the point of view to highlight and focus on the one berry.

The purple berry, presumably your subject, might work just a bit better had you moved over to the side it is on and then taken the photo. As it is, there is this large, red, out of focus branch in the way with a little bit of a berry trying to make an appearance behind it. Good luck.

Highlights are too burnt out. Also is more pink than purple.
