sunflower6by JustCareeComment by mycelium: Very cool! This thing looks almost like it has teeth! POF well chosen--could even have been a bit deeper with a smaller aperture. Your greater technical control of your camera is really showing. |

rosebudby JustCareeComment by cpanaioti: You've got the right idea to try and isolate the rose bud however I think in this case, the DOF is a little too shallow. Closing down the lens to f8 or even f11 would increase the DOF. That would add a little more detail to the background but probably not enough to make it distracting. |

roseby JustCareeComment by cpanaioti: You've got the focus bang on (IMO) on this one. The centre of the flower is nice and sharp. Since that's where most of the interest is in this flower, why not zoom in a little further. ;o) |

leaf swirlby JustCareeComment by pixelpig: Carrie, if you have time, google 'histogram' & see if you can find the histogram info in your PP software. 'Blown out' is slang for loss of detail. Of course, if the white edge of the leaf had little detail to begin with, you can't catch very fine detail with anything but light coming in low & from the side, called 'raking light.' FWIW, 'blown out' wasn't the first thing I thought when I looked at this--I thought "ooh, cool." I've spent my fair share of time trying to capture cana lily leaves (or are these banana tree leaves?)--they do such interesting things in the light. Keep on clickin'! |
