I keep a mental log of places that would make good foreground for sunsets so that I can go to one quickly when I see a nice sunset coming on.
I have gotten a lot of nice sunset photos that way when I would have otherwise just had to watch and sigh.
You exposed this correctly to get the vibrant color.
I have also found that here in S W Florida, the best shots are usually after the sun sets, sometimes as long as 20 minutes after the actual sundown.
